Our vision statement clearly outlines our priority to health, safety and the environment. We have set and achieved aggressive improvements targets.
The safety of employees, sub-contractors and visitors is our number one priority. We are proud of the significant improvements achieved which are a direct result of our commitment to the ongoing education of employees in safe operation and procedures.
Our Health and Safety Management System has been developed in line with the international standard OHSAS 18001. All employees and contractors are inducted and trained before commencing work.
We have introduced many safety initiatives to ensure the safety of our employees, sub-contractors, visitors and the public. Site induction, safety signage and safe work instructions and risk management practices are fundamental to achieving a safe workplace, particularly for high risk activities such as load handling, mobile plant and equipment and working at heights.
Our ‘Best Be Safe’ workplace safety campaign was launched in 2009. This is supported by the ‘Fatal 5’ program aimed at ensuring all employees, contractors and visitors are aware of the risk controls in place for these activities. Logos and a series of posters appear throughout all of our businesses to remind employees that everyone is responsible for safety. Our aim is for all employees and contractors to return home safely to their families at the end of each work day.
