GALVANISED MESH

Galvanised reinforcing mesh, also known as galv mesh or galvanised reo mesh, is used in projects that require a protective barrier between reinforcing steel and corrosive elements.

Galvanised mesh sheets allow a protective zinc coating to adhere to reinforcing steel, which prevents elements from corroding the mesh. Galvanised welded mesh has been proven to be reliable in its resistance to both natural and chemical corrosion. Our stock reinforcement square, rectangular and trench galvanised steel mesh sheets can be hot dipped to suit your specific project requirements. GALVANISED STEEL MESH SUPPLIERS

Many builders and project contractors are faced with the prospect of having to build a structure that will not only meet the expectations of their investors, but also withstand the often challenging conditions in which it will exist over time. In Australia, those living in coastal areas will appreciate the corrosive effect that the ocean can have on steel. When reinforcing your structures, galvanised steel mesh sheets are a superior means to both strength and durability over time.

Here at Bestbar, we have been working alongside those in the construction industry for over 20 years. In that time, we have grown our family-owned and operated endeavour to now encompass 9 locations that serve all areas of Sydney, as well as Darwin, Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne. We are one of Australia’s leading galvanised mesh suppliers and have set ourselves apart from our competitors through a personal approach that is backed by a reliable supply chain.

To produce superior quality galvanised steel mesh for sale, our production process undergoes rigorous quality controls to ensure that our customers get the highest quality galv mesh each and every time. Furthermore, our team of experts are happy to advise and assist those that require guidance in terms of estimating supply needs and prices, as well as choosing the best possible galvanised reo mesh for their projects.

Complete your reinforcement package

Bestbar supplies more than just galvanised mesh, allowing you to source reinforcement products for every stage of your project through a single supplier. Whether you’re reinforcing slabs, footings or specialised structural elements, our comprehensive mesh range is manufactured to Australian Standards and supported by expert estimating, scheduling and nationwide delivery.

Our galvanised mesh range includes:

  • Square mesh for general-purpose slab reinforcement where loads are distributed evenly across the concrete.
  • Rectangular mesh for structural applications requiring greater reinforcement in one direction, such as suspended slabs, concrete walls and commercial floor systems.
  • Trench mesh for reinforcing strip footings, ground beams and foundation trenches.

Selecting the right galvanised mesh

Choosing the right galvanised mesh depends on your project’s structural requirements, environmental conditions and engineering specifications. When selecting galvanised reinforcement mesh, consider factors such as:

  • The type of concrete element being reinforced, such as slabs, footings or walls
  • Expected structural loads and engineering requirements
  • Exposure to moisture, chlorides or other corrosive environments
  • The intended design service life of the structure
  • Whether square, rectangular or trench mesh has been specified

If you’re unsure which galvanised reinforcement mesh is right for your application, our experienced team can assist with product selection, estimating and scheduling to help ensure your reinforcement meets both structural and durability requirements. Does galvanised mesh react with Zincalume?

No, galvanised mesh will not react with Zincalume. It is a common misconception that Zincalume is incompatible with galvanised surfaces. A zinc-calume alloy is composed of two metals adjacent to each other in the galvanic table, aluminium and zinc, so they are compatible to be in contact.

When should I use galvanised mesh instead of standard mesh?

Galvanised mesh is typically specified where reinforced concrete will be exposed to corrosive environments such as coastal locations, pool surrounds, washdown areas, liquid limestone installations and other areas subject to ongoing moisture or chloride exposure. It is also commonly selected for projects requiring longer design service lives or where enhanced durability has been specified by the structural engineer.

    How is galvanised mesh made?

Galvanised mesh is made by coating the steel wires with zinc. This is done after it is fabricated into wire mesh and welded into sheets. Galvanising allows a protective zinc coating to adhere to reinforcing steel, which prevents elements from corroding the mesh. Galvanised mesh has been proven to be reliable in its resistance to both natural and chemical corrosion.

Why is galvanised mesh used for liquid limestone?

Liquid limestone is generally more porous than conventional concrete, allowing moisture to reach reinforcing steel more readily over time. Using galvanised reinforcement mesh helps reduce the likelihood of reinforcement corrosion and visible rust staining, making it a popular choice for driveways, pool surrounds and outdoor entertaining areas where appearance and durability are both important.

Can I get rectangular or trench mesh galvanised?

Yes. In addition to standard square galv mesh, Bestbar can supply galvanised rectangular and trench mesh to suit a wide range of project requirements. Whether you’re reinforcing slabs, walls, footings or ground beams, our team can recommend the most appropriate galvanised reinforcement solution and assist with estimating, scheduling and nationwide delivery.

How can I use galvanised reinforcing mesh?

Galvanised mesh has the advantage of corrosion resistance and can be used in many projects, including concrete, slabs, fencing, landscaping, retaining walls, and much more.
